The Skyliner Revelations

Konichiwa!

We arrived in Japan safely and comfortably (thank you PAL) yesterday. It was great to fly business class especially for someone as big as me as my seat felt like i was sitting on a laZboy (close) recliner. The funny thing was we were given a menu for breakfast and i felt i should take time choosing what i would like for breakfast and so i did, realizing after that i actually had only two choices, Japanese or Western. To start off our Japan adventure, we chose to have the Japanese breakfast.

It was good, the only thing familiar to me on the tray was the bowl of miso soup, a pack of nori and two pieces of sashimi. The other stuff were veg of some sort. It was a small serving, i finished it in about 5 mins, Ivy did the same right after i was done. I was supposed to go back and watch Ugly Truth on the personal monitors, when the attendant asked to take my plate.

I wondered why she took just the main plate and left everything else on the tray -- double d'oh! We were then served the main course of salmon on rice! So that was what the nori and other sauces were for. Salamagan!

Well technically, the salmon wasn't really on the rice hehe. It was a very nice flight -- smooth.

After The Ugly Truth, we just about had time to fill out the immigration and customs cards and grab a quick shuteye. A few minutes prior to landing, I started to feel a bit nervous as we were about to embark on something completely new and exciting! And immigration always scares me a bit, haay, read on!

Narita Airport is big. Though not as pretty as Bangkok's new terminals, it was still light years more advanced than anything I've seen in Pinas. I personally didn't have any trouble with the immigration and customs officers, though Ivy had a little delay in immigration as they were looking for proof of our hotel reservation in Asakusa (dang you Max, you said i wouldn't need those anymore! Hehehe! Thanks!). I guess the immigration officers are a bit cautious about women traveling alone which is why I immediately said that I was traveling with my husband and pointed to Dex on the booth next to me. The officer waited for Dex to go through and called him over to me. When the officer was asking me earlier about the hotel reservation, I told him we reserved through email, but he continued to ask for some sort of proof. But when he asked D....

Officer: Where is your hoter reservation?
D: Reservation through email.
Officer: Emair? No Paper?
D: Yes, email. No Paper.
Officer: Ok.

One piece of advice when you travel though, customs like the ones in Narita are strict on hard shelled luggages and will open them for inspection. or maybe because they thought I was traveling alone and had to tell the officer again that I was traveling with dear husband. He waved D over and just glanced at his luggage and suspicious brown box and said no need to open. (da heck!) The customs officers there should wear gloves when handling items inside people's luggages. Good thing i packed my undergarments together in a separate bag or else those would've have been all over the floor. Ugh! Hay, anyway.

We put on our jackets right after buying our Skyliner tickets to Ueno Station, we had to wait for a good twenty minutes as our train was scheduled to arrive at 2:42pm sharp. Luckily we found the platform where the train was supposed to be despite having no english instructions on the tickets. Whew!

D inside the skyliner train. Seat 5b!

Mr. blondie in front of us. There wasn't much passengers in this trip to Ueno because it took some time for us to get out of the Airport that we missed the earlier one with all of our "kasabay". Oh welps, good for us!

The big revelation while waiting for our ride from Narita to Ueno, i realized that i forgot to put my temporary sim card on roaming -- triple d'oh! Oh welps, i guess that's what you get for being too occupied in the airport with FB and this blog haha! Or the free flowing food. Sigh, didn't I tell you?
